Dear Stain Wizard,
What is the best way to remove candle wax from a garment?
Wax on table clothes from party rental companies is a common problem. The cotton acts like a sponge and wants to hold onto the stain. Wax on a thick cotton sweatshirt is the same.
This is a lot of wax to deal with in this example. The key is to emulsify the wax to turn it back into a liquid. You will need hot water to accomplish this.
To remove wax:
1 gallon of 130-140 degree water (while soaking, use a lid to help hold the water temperature)
6 oz. of A.L.Wilson InkGo.
Soak overnight.
Let dry, then dryclean as usual, to remove any last traces.
As the garment soaks, you will see the wax float to the top.
